Kate O’Beirne
President

Kate O’Beirne is president of the National Review Institute. Before joining the Institute, O’Beirne was National Review magazine’s Washington Editor where she directed the magazine’s political coverage and wrote principally about Congress, politics, and domestic policy. She spent ten years as a member of CNN’s Capital Gang, and was a frequent panelist on NBC’s Meet the Press. She is currently a contributor to Bloomberg Television.

Before joining National Review in 1995, O’Beirne was vice president of Government Relations at The Heritage Foundation. O’Beirne previously served as Heritage’s deputy director of Domestic Policy Studies, where she supervised studies in the areas of health care, welfare, education, and housing. From 1986 to 1988, she served in the Reagan Administration as deputy assistant secretary for legislation at the Department of Health and Human Services.

A native of New York, O’Beirne began her political career when she worked on James Buckley’s successful U.S. senatorial campaign and served as a staff assistant in his Senate office.

O’Beirne also worked for the New York Senate and received her JD degree from St. John’s University in New York.

She is the author of Women Who Make the World Worse and How Their Radical Feminist Assault Is Ruining our Schools, Families, Military and Sports, published by Sentinel Press in December 2005.

April Ponnuru
Executive Director

April Ponnuru is the executive director of National Review Institute. Before joining NRI, Ponnuru served as the Vice President of National Review magazine.

A veteran of Capitol Hill, Ponnuru spent several years as an aide to House Republicans. She served as both a senior policy advisor to Majority Whip Roy Blunt and as an advisor to Congressman Todd Akin. Ponnuru began her career at the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington. She was a Witherspoon Fellow at the Family Research Council in 1998 and a Lincoln Fellow at the Claremont Institute in 2005.

Ponnuru holds a Master’s degree in legal and political theory from the University of London. She lives with her husband, Ramesh, and her daughters, Mary and Elizabeth, in Alexandria, Virginia.

Pamela Lange
Director of Operations

Pamela Lange is the director of operations at National Review Institute. Her experience has been in development, (having worked for Bryn Mawr College, Wilson College Moravian College and Stephens College) as well as in office administration. Lange also served as a member of Planning and Zoning Commission for the Village of Chagrin Falls in Ohio for eight years.

Lange earned her A.B. in history and psychology from Wilson College, Chambersburg, PA. A native of Pittsburgh, PA, she is married to Scott Lange, who is the Chief Development Officer with World Hope International in Alexandria, VA.
